Here’s a story to share why I am so passionate about helping single parents and non-traditional families create an estate plan that keeps them out of court and maintains privacy.

Folks that know me know that I’ve spent my life over the last twenty years advocating for children and families in my journey of practicing law and years of relationship coaching.

But, over the last year, I have carried a heavy burden as I’ve felt helpless and unable to help my own mother when she needed it the most. Many of you remember my Grandpa JC and when he died, the community felt it. It was heart breaking and the loss was profound for all of us.

His children were left with so much grief and loss as were we all. Yet, they had to find the strength to get through the Probate Court process because of how his estate was structured. Through his children's experience in settling his estate, my eyes were opened to all of the emotions a child goes through when they not only lose a parent but they are left with lists of tasks that must be completed for the estate for Probate Court (which can all be avoided).

I vowed then and I am making good now on my promise to ensure my child avoids Probate Court with just a little planning ahead. I’ve discovered a way to help other parents to ensure they protect their own family by planning for the life they live, the legacy of love, and the plan they leave behind.
